London Fashion Week - last day's in photos

Last Friday I stopped by at Somerset house for an hour to snap a few streetstyle images, chat with friends - and have a cup of coffee with fellow photographer Kári.

The weather was terrible, pouring rain and windy but I still managed to get a few photos. The images and more information will be up in the next days :)

I also ran into my friend Peggy, it was quite hard to keep up a conversation with her as she is hunted by photographers wanting to photograph her style. The 4th time that someone asked for her photo while we were talking I snapped a photo of her being photographed head to toe while I was standing there on the side :) She is definitely one of a kind so what her here : http://peggygould.tumblr.com/

Yesterday was also a pretty great day. I was shooting backstage at Sadie Clayton's first fashion show. The show was great and everything went perfectly, I am so proud of her !

7th of February I also shot her lookbook for the collection. Arize TV was there to film behind the scenes and interview Sadie. Also I have 3 editorials and 2 covers coming out this week that I can't wait to show you :) !

New look, and backstage with Sadie Clayton

Hello everyone and a happy Sunday, as promised here is a picture of my new look, shorter blonder hair and yes I bleached my eyebrows as well - why ? because why not :)

I have tried coloring my eyebrows darker so many times but it just doesn't suit me at all, so I thought I might as well give this a try and I really like it. I recommend that if you feel like being adventures and change something just give it a try ! You can always colour them back on very easily.

Last Friday I shot Sadie Clayton's new lookbook for her A/W 2014 collection, which she will be showing on London Fashion Week.

Sadie is a very interesting personality, she lives for fashion and puts so much passion into her work. This is Sadie's first collection after graduating from Kingston Uni last year.

What made the shoot even more interesting is that we had a visit from a TV news channel AriseTV filming behind the scene and interviewing Sadie. So I guess we will be featured on Sky TV next week :) I will of course update you then.

And finally on another note, do any other photographers find themselves in all these awkward positions like I do ?

In every shoot I grab something to stand on but somehow I always end up in an awkward position kneeling on top of it instead of just stepping down. So much unnecessary effort :) !

Behind the scenes and throwback images *

If you have an instagram account you might have noticed people tagging #throwback or #tbt and posting old images with the tag. Well I wanted to play that game as well, so here are 2 I've posted over the last weeks.

12 Moons - the first photo I ever created for an exhibition. The theme of the exhibition was masculinity/femininity. Can you tell the gender by their asses ?

And secondly this image of Silja from a test shoot I did 3 years ago. She is wearing a dress I made out of paper and tied around her on the spot. I am pretty sure this photoshoot is the reason why my university sent me to BA in Styling and Photography instead of just BA in Photography. Learning both is good but I will always be photographer not a stylist, I am simply too much of a gadget girl :) - But I have to say that I am quite proud of that dress :) !

And finally backstage images from my newest shoot, a makeup editorial out soon * Can't wait to show you that one ! I will be scanning in some negatives tomorrow :)

And finally on another note I coloured my hair platinum blond last Saturday, tomorrow I have a haircut, and I am bleaching my eyebrows as well !

I am going to be a hair model for Vidal Sassoon and I can't wait !

So expect a "newlook" image tomorrow

ohh yes and if everything goes as planned I am having my Aura photographed as well ! xx

Organizing

Right now I am organizing my negatives from last year, I can't believe how many rolls of film I went through ! The plan is of course to shoot even more this year :)

Tomorrow I will be testing some new film technique I have been researching. Can't wait to see how it goes, and of course show you !

Big instagram and life update *

Since I have blogged very little over the last month here is a big update from my life :)

Most of the images are from my instagram www.instagram.com/irisbjorkr as well as some special extras **

Here is a picture of the very unglamourous site of photography - carrying lots of stuff around !

Renting out some lights from my university and carrying them home. I think this box is about 15 kilos with no wheals and a metal handle, I had blisters on my hands by the time I got home ! oh well

Right after handing in the first part of my final major project for uni. I already got the result and I am very happy with it !

I had a photography workshop with Walter Hugo which was quite amazing. He changes the whole darkroom into a camera and sticks a lens out of the room. We shot images on glass plates and developed them right away. I obviously squeezed in as a test model for Walter Hugo himself and got myself a copy of an image by him (on the right ) :) ! the one on the left is by Adam Csoka Keller

I also had a styling workshop where I got to try this amazing Anna Piaggy mask made by John William !

The best thing about this month was that I finally bought a camera I have been dreaming about for almost 2 years :) !! SO HAPPY :):):):):)

And I got the change to shoot 3 editorials with it right away for the second issue of The Mark Mag :) ! this is a behind the scene shot from a very busy weekend shooting ! I stood on top of so many things that weekend that I got strings in my legs afterwards

These are all the films I used over a very busy weekend with my new camera ! Hand developing them in the darkroom really tested my inner strenght as frankly I am very afraid off the dark, somehow I always get through it though. Scanning all the images took 2 loooong days - soo much work but so worth it ! Can't wait to show you the images

After all the hard work me and Hilmar ( my boyfriend ) went to Sweden over the weend to visit my brother and his family. Here we are in Jule Liseberg and as you can see I have a big crush on him :)

Here are Elísa and Benni ( my brothers kids ) after a very cute Santa Lucia performance in their kinder garden :) it was a very cute weekend !

When I got back to London I decided to cut my hair again ! :) quite happy with the result

And finally I spent my Saturday night baking 3 different sorts of Christmas cookies for Hilmar, my flatmates and myself. I feel so grown up, although I still eat way too much of the dough :)!

The last month has seriously been a bit crazy, soo much work but also so much fun and the best part is that tomorrow I am going home to Iceland for my Christmas break :) I CAN'T WAIT !!! :):):)

2 from instagram

I have been the worst blogger in the world over the last 2 weeks, the reason for my lack of blogging is because blogspot is suddenly changing the colours of my pictures when I upload them. And as I usually just write a few words and let the images speak for themselves my blog has been very silent.

My pretty little studio

Who says you always need the biggest studio, the newest lighting equipment and the most expensive camera out there ? All these things can obviously be very helpfull but in the end it all depends on the people behind and infront of the camera.

This is where I shot my latest editorial, in my backyard with a camera my dad bought 24 years ago :) same year I was born. Who would have thought I would be using it today !

I feel so lucky, and happy and I don't even have the words for how much I enjoy what I am doing, and I am so excited about the future.

It means the world to me that you guys take your time to look at my work. Thank you so much everyone ! ****
